The Velvetta Cheese Log recipe

Velvetta Cheese Log

1 pound Velvetta cheese (room temperature)
8 ounces Cream cheese (room temperature)
1/2 cup chopped green chilies
1/2 cup pecans chopped
1/2 cup black olives, chopped
1/2 cup pimientos
1/2 cup green onions, chopped

Roll out Velvetta between 2 sheets of parchment or wax paper. Spread softened cream cheese over Velvetta. Mix remaining ingredients and spread over cream cheese. Roll up jelly roll style and invert onto a platter.

This is very easy to make as long as you are working with Velvetta and cream cheese that is softened at room temperature.

As long as the Veletta and cream cheeses are at room temperature this is easy to make.

First Annual Cousins Reunion

First Annual Cousins Reunion

Although it was a rainy day outside, we stayed dry inside visting, eating and telling stories. We got to fill in some blanks and I found I wasn't the only little boy chipping away at Grandma and Grandpa Beare's porch. What a relief shared guilt is. LOL

What fun!!!! Loved meeting some family for the first time and seeing others we having seen for years. Here are some of the photos shot while we viewed old photos and posed for new ones.

The Cousins Reunion

Yes! the family reunion is still on and it is going to be GREAT!!! The plan is to have folks arrive mid-morning on Saturday the 12th of September, 2009, say around 10:00 A.M. Current thinking is, if everyone brings one of their favorite food dishes, (it can be anything from dessert to side dishes or salad), the main meats (beef and chicken) will be provided.

Lunch will start between 12:30 P.M. and 1:00 P.M.

Games, activities, and visiting between lunch and dinner

Dinner will start between 5:00 P.M. and 5:30 P.M.

All this will take place at Robbie and Charlies house and the church activities center next door.

There is a large parking lot between the Blockers home and the church so parking is not going to be a problem.

We have horse-shoes and other outdoor activities planned as well as indoor volleyball and basketball for those interested. Bring any favorite family game, tables will be provided.

Looking forward to renewing friendships and strengthening family ties.

Funeral Arrangement

Billie Jo Beare's funeral will be held at the LDS chapel, 2801 Skyline Dr. Mesquite, TX 75149. The viewing will be from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM and the funeral at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. She will be buried in Duncan, OK next to her husband Robert F. Beare at the Duncan Municiple Cemetary at 4:00 PM on that same day. Billie Jo Beare returned to her Heavenly Father, a loving husband, her mother and father, and a host of family members. She lived a charitable life and set an example of love and devotion for all of us. She will be missed more than words can express. Funeral arrangements will be posted as soon as they are available. Her funeral will take place in Mesquite, TX and her burial in Duncan, OK later that same day. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. - Jerry Beare

Billie Jo Beare Update

Today is Aug. 5th, 2009. Mom lost her ability to swallow on July 27th, 2009. She is however, still with us at the time of this posting on this date at 1:00 PM. She is not in pain for the most part and all of her children and many of her grandchilden are with her each day. I will post more information as it becomes available. Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated. We cannot express enough our love and joy at seeing Doris and Patrick and their kindness while here was beyond our words to express. Jerry Beare

Patrick & Doris met up with the cousins at Charlie & Robbie's house. So nice to see all of our family, again. We "Poteets" are so sad to be losing our "Aunt Jo." She will always live in our memories and especially in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mom's health is failing and it seems she is nearing the end of her journey. This update is simply intended to give family and friends a heads up. Of course I do not know what will transpire over the next few days but it would seem from all indications, Heavenly Father is calling her home. The family reunion may be short one giant spirit but it will still be a gathering of family long overdue. - Jerry Beare

One of the ways we can stay in touch though miles apart, is through sharing photos. This is one taken just weeks ago as Pat (Patricia) and I vacationed in Grand Cayman. Someday I will buy her some shoes.

Family Reunion Coming Up

The Beare and Gilbert families are getting together in September. The current date is September 12, 2009 in Mesquite, TX. This is planned as an all day affair with plenty of food and fun. Fajita lunch and brisket dinner are being considered at this time. Come share oral histories, photos and memories. Let's honor those who have passed and those that remain.

This blog can be used to get the word out to your family members and be sure to provide them with the log-on and password. Together we will all gain strength from our combined love and affection for one another. Everyone is welcome !!! Share your ideas and thoughts for ways we can make this get together meet your needs.
